About Ruthless

ruthhudsonaboutRuth was born and raised in a small village in Switzerland with the Swiss Alps in her back yard (literally). Naturally, she spent all her weekends downhill skiing in winter and enjoying hiking, biking and swimming in summer. Enthusiastic about lots of different sports she would get her school friends together and enter local tournaments such as soccer, basketball or handball. After graduating from business school, Ruth came to Vancouver and attended an ESL school for three months to learn English and explored the West for a year. After an 18 months return to Switzerland she decided to move back to Vancouver where she has lived since 1991.

While training for her first Sun Run in 1996 she became hooked on running. Since then she has ran many 10 km, as well as numerous half and full marathon races. While training for her first full marathon in 2001 she got invited to join a group weight training class as a form of cross training. She soon realized the amazing benefits of weight training added to her weekly routine.

In 2003 Ruth obtained her Weight Training and Personal Training Certification with the British Columbia Parks and Board Association and founded Ruthless Fitness Inc. In 2013 Ruth added Indoor Cycling to her repertoire and is teaching spinning class at a Vancouver Spin Studio. When not in the gym you can find her enjoying the outdoors either running in the Endowment Lands, hiking local mountains and afar, riding her road bike or mountain biking back in her home count.

Ruth clients range from early twenties through to seniors. She uses a wide variety of training tools to keep the sessions fresh, challenging and fun while working on your strength, endurance, balance and flexibility. She will push you when needed and always quick to modify exercises due to injury or other limitations. “Don’t say you can’t if you haven’t tried and “use it or loose it” are some of the phrases she goes by. It takes time, work and dedication to get in shape and stay in shape. “I get so much joy and satisfaction out of training people. The biggest complement and achievements to me are words from my clients such as: “I no longer have to ask for help loading bags of soil into my trunk”, or “I have been able to ski powder three days in a row after having hip surgery the year before”.

Staying fit and in shape makes your daily activities easier, gives yo more energy physically and mentally. It is not a choice but a lifestyle.

When not in the gym you can find her enjoying the outdoors either running in the Endowment Lands, hiking local mountains and afar, riding her road bike or mountain biking back in her home country, downhill skiing and always up for any kind of adventure and trying out new things.
